Store owners in Kimberley, BC have redefined what it means to be a good neighbour to nature, not only in the Kootenay region, but across the province.
Arrow and Axe General store is a couple and their kids who work hard every single day to offer their customers everything from custom-designed jewelry to outdoor gear.
They also created the BE THE GOOD project to promote conservation, sustainability and wellness.
“Three per cent of profits from all store purchases are donated to wellness, water and wilderness,” says Denai Bell, co-owner of Arrow and Axe. “We feel it is our responsibility to find new ways to give back and have meaningful impacts. Our goal is to put the planet and people before profit. We needed a purpose, something to wake up for, to show our kids they can BE THE GOOD.” And as a Basecamp Partner, they give generously to the BC Parks Foundation every year.
“Denai and family are exactly what our fabulous support community are all about,” says Andy Day, CEO of BC Parks Foundation. “Hard working, kind hearted people who love BC and want to make a real impact by doing good. Thank you, thank you, thank you to our friends at Arrow and Axe -- and all our other small-business supporters-- for making a direct impact by protecting beautiful places and providing opportunities for all British Columbians to connect to nature.”
